Migrate from Firebase Dynamic Links

Firebase Dynamic Links shut down in August 2025. This guide moves your links, SDK, and domain to Grivn, and keeps links you already shared working.

What carries over

Import reads a Firebase Console CSV export. These parameters map one-to-one; only the suffix option is renamed.

Firebase parameterMeaning in Grivn
linkDeep link URL
apn / afl / amvAndroid package, fallback link, minimum version
ifl / ipfl / isi / imviOS fallback, iPad fallback, App Store ID, minimum version
oflFallback for other platforms
st / sd / siSocial preview title, description, image
utm_source … utm_termUTM campaign parameters
at / ct / mt / ptApp Store affiliate and campaign tokens
d (suffix option)Becomes pathMode: SHORT or UNGUESSABLE (default)

What is not supported

These columns are ignored on import. Check whether your app depends on them before you switch.

Steps

  1. Export from Firebase. In the Firebase Console, open Dynamic Links and export all links as CSV.
  2. Create a Grivn project. Enter your iOS App ID (TEAMID.com.example.app), Android package name, and Android SHA-256 certificate fingerprints.
  3. Import the CSV. In the dashboard, open your project and choose Import from Firebase. Required columns are name and link. Add a code column to keep each link's original short code; without it, links get new codes.
  4. Replace the SDK. Remove the Firebase Dynamic Links library and add the Grivn SDK for Android (plus the Play Install Referrer library) or iOS (Swift Package Manager). Initialize it at app start; it hands your app the original link on first open.
  5. Point your domain (optional). Add a CNAME such as link.yourdomain.com to your Grivn project domain, verify it in project settings, and upload the SSL certificate. Skip this to use the default Grivn subdomain.
  6. Update associated domains. Replace yourapp.page.link with your Grivn domain in Xcode Associated Domains and in the Android intent filter host.
  7. Verify. Click a test link on a phone, install the app from it, and confirm the deferred deep link callback fires and the click shows up in analytics.

Common questions

Do links I already shared keep working?

The *.page.link host belongs to Google and stopped working with the shutdown. Links on your own custom domain keep working if you import them with the code column and point that domain to Grivn.

Will Universal Links / App Links break during the switch?

Expect a short overlap. Update associated domains first, then switch DNS.

How are installs attributed on Android and iOS?

Android uses the Play Install Referrer, with device matching as a fallback. iOS uses device matching. Visitors who opt out of attribution are still redirected; they are just not matched.
